This item is an interactive tutorial relating to photomicrography, the use of photography to capture images in a microscope. Most biological specimens lack sufficient color and contrast to be readily imaged in optical microscopes. This virtual microscope activity allows users to enhance contrast by adding or deleting color filters as they view specimens. Users can choose from an image set of five stained specimens, including scar tissue, disease tissue, and potato starch. This item is part of a larger collection of materials on optics and microscopy developed by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and Florida State University.
