written by Michael Davidson, Matthew J. Parry-Hill, and Mortimer Abramowitz
published by the Olympus America, Inc. and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory
This item is an interactive tutorial relating to photomicrography, the use of photography to capture images in a microscope.  Most biological specimens lack sufficient color and contrast to be readily imaged in optical microscopes.  This  activity allows users to choose from among 35 dyes commonly used in specimen staining.  By toggling between the maximum, medium, and minimum contrast buttons, users can view the recommended filters for achieving optimal contrast.   This item is part of a larger collection of materials on optics and microscopy developed by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and Florida State University.
