![]() Sociocultural Influences on Physics Students' Use of Proportional Reasoning in a Non-Western Country
written by
Ayo Harriet Akatugba and John Wallace
Key aspects of student difficulty with proportional reasoning can be understood only when the social and cultural contexts in which it is embedded are considered. This constructivist, interpretive case study provides insights into physics students' associations between cultural heritage, world views, societal expectations, authoritarianism, upbringing, customs and traditions, language, everyday life, and students' use of proportional reasoning in physics.
