Detail Page

published by the United States Geologic Survey
This page, from the U.S. Geological Survey's Photographic Library, contains a photograph of a plowed field in Imperial Valley, CA, following the 6.5 magnitude earthquake there in 1979.  The sideways fault motion produced an 11 inch offset in the plowed furrows, which is clearly shown in the photo. The site also contains links to additional images of earthquakes, national parks, mines, and more.
