This 2009 book explores what we know about how people learn. Specifically, it addresses how young people's motivations and emotions influence their learning and how learning is affected by family background. It presents research-based evidence related to benefits of group work, formative assessments, technology applications, and project-based learning. These are among the issues addressed for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) by leading researchers from North America and Europe. This book brings together the lessons of research on both the nature of learning and different educational applications, and it summarizes these as seven key concluding principles.
