Rifle Throw: Projectile Motion with Rotation
written by Anne Cox
Rifle Throw: Projectile Motion with Rotation uses the Tracker video analysis tool to analyze the motion of a rifle tossed in the air by members of the US Army Drill Team. The tracked video includes the motion of the center of mass of the rifle as well as the end of the rifle. Students explore rotational motion about the center of mass and can build a model of the motion.

The trz file contains the activity handout, video and Tracker tab file. The video comes from YouTube and can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_wEHiMBdn8.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java (JRE).
