This Physlet-based simulation features four electrical charges fixed at the corners of a square. Each member of the two charged pairs is identical in sign and magnitude. By dragging a positive test charge along the path of a circle in the middle of the square, users are able to see the net electric force.

This simulation is part of a larger collection of Physlet-based illustrations and tutorials developed for introductory physics.
SEE RELATED ITEMS on this page for links to three closely related Physlets that also feature four fixed electrical charges in the same configuration.

Please note that this resource requires Java Applet Plug-in.

University of Vermont Physlets: Four Unknown Charges III:

Is By The Same Author and Covers a Similar Topic As University of Vermont Physlets: Four Unknown Charges I

A closely related item featuring the same configuration of four electric charges at the corners of a square. This one simulates the net electric force of a test charge moving on a vertical line that bisects the square.
