This web page contains an introductory physics homework assignment relating to the motion of a cyclist riding a 12-speed bicycle, developed as an alternative to traditional textbook homework.  Students use observational skills and mathematical modeling, combined with basic physics, to solve problems related to the use of a racing bicycle.  The problem integrates concepts of torque, friction, force, and acceleration.
