This web page contains a simulation of the spectrum emitted by blackbody radiation. The user can change the temperature of the source object, and see how the spectrum shifts. Several questions ask the user to correlate observed color and temperature, and explain why we observe most objects by scattered light rather than radiated.

This page is part of a collection of Javascript applets with tutorial questions developed for students of undergraduate physics.
