Detail Page

written by David Maloney
This item is an annotated homework problem relating to Newton's Second Law for introductory physics students.  The author explains the steps needed to find string tension in a pulley system when given distance, mass, and angle of incline.   Free body diagrams and additional sequential explanations are then provided to find the acceleration of the blocks attached to the pulley.  This resource is intended to supplement classroom instruction and traditional text materials.  It is part of a larger collection of similar introductory physics problems.
