This is an interactive homework problem for introductory physics students involving a cart and a block connected by a string passing over an ideal pulley.  Given the mass of both objects and distance of motion, the student must determine the work done on the cart by the string.  A user-activated "help" sequence is provided for each step of the problem-solving, from conceptual analysis through quantitative calculation.  To promote critical thinking, immediate feedback is received for both correct and incorrect responses.  This item is part of a larger collection of interactive homework problems for introductory physics.
