This part of the Atmospheric Optics site by Les Cowley provides an image gallery of natural rays and shadows that occur as small particles scatter light in the atmosphere. A variety of images such as distorted suns, cloud shadows, mountain shadows, spreading rays, and more are presented. Along with each photo is an explanation of the related physics.
