published by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
This website is dedicated to the study and classification of galaxies. The website first asks the student to classify a number of galaxies from the SDSS database according to his or her own criteria. Then the types of galaxies and their basic properties are explained.  An introduction to the Hubble Tuning Fork is given which allows astronomers to identify the evolutionary state of the galaxy. The final part of the project is dedicated to the interaction of galaxies, clusters, collisions, and the importance of their studies.
