NSF Funding Opportunities for Rising Above the Gathering Storm
written by Joan Prival
This Plenary presentation at the 2005 PTEC Conference outlines recent studies of the state of student and teacher understanding in math and science and responses to the identified needs. The results of studies of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Board show poor performance by students and teachers not well trained in their subject matter. This talk outlines the responses by the National Science Foundation to these needs and some of the projects being supported by the NSF.
