the Exploratorium
This site, provided by the Center for Science Education at the University of California Berkeley, contains an activity to experiment with shadows and light sources and to understand the relationship between the angle of illumination and the shadow's length. Inquiry-based science is used to explore using a few basic materials: a flashlight, cardboard, and a toothpick. The site also contains an explanation of the observations and links to more information and other astronomy activities.
