Detail Page

written by Surendranath Reddy
This applet illustrates both conservation of energy and circular motion. A roller coaster car starts on top of a hill, falls through a valley and travels over second hill, then goes through a loop. The depth of the valley, height of barrier, and size of the loop can be varied and the effect on the motion of the body can be viewed. If the velocity is too small or too large the car leaves the tracks. A motion diagram for the car is also available. This is part of a large collection of physics and math applets by the author.
