This tutorial introduces the concepts of density and buoyancy. It opens with Archimedes' famous displacement experiment, which resulted in the first known articulation of the Principle relating buoyant force and weight of a body immersed in fluid. The densities of various materials are given and temperature effects introduced. A short assessment is provided, with immediate feedback for self-gauging understanding. Links are provided to real-life applications and other resources related to mass density. This resource, appropriate for the entry phase of a unit on density, is part of the Vision Learning collection of short online modules covering topics in a broad range of science and math topics.
