Balkan Physics Letters
An investigation of students' abilities in establishing relations between some physical concepts
written by I. Karaman, R. Dilber, O. Dogan, M. Ertugrul, and B. Duzgun
Nowadays, it is well known that technology and its improvement depend on science, especially on research in physics. Because of this, the importance of science teaching is increasing with each passing year. It is clear that students use pre-existing conceptions constructed from reflections on previous experiences to reason about newly presented science concepts and to make sense of their instructional science experience. In physics instruction, understanding student's misconceptions and difficulties includes the analysis of how students think regarding the subject generally. In this study, similar relationships between some physical concepts set up by high school students are investigated. At the end of this study, it is shown that students are not able to establish these relationships.
