Interferometric Faraday effect magnetic field measurements
written by Chad Hoyt
Participants will operate and characterize an erbium-doped fiber laser that is mode-locked using nonlinear polarization rotation. We will make an autocorrelation measurement of the laser's pulses using a scanning Michelson interferometer and the two-photon absorption in a silicon photodiode. We will compress the pulses to be nearly Fourier transform-limited using the spatial dispersion from four gratings after the laser.  The included file provides a parts list for this experiment.
