This press release from the Gemini Observatory covers the discovery of a supernova using laser adaptive optics. Laser guide adaptive optics help eliminate atmospheric noise from images, making ground-based telescopes almost as sharp as an orbital telescope. The release also includes pictures of the supernova in another galaxy.
