Statistical and Thermal Physics (STP) JS Models

written by Harvey Gould and Jan Tobochnik
technical implementer: Wolfgang Christian and Robert Hanson

The Statistical and Thermal Physics (STP) JavaScript programs are read-to-run computer models and curricular materials for the teaching of statistical and thermal physics. The goal of these programs is to illustrate some of the fundamental concepts in statistical mechanics. They can be used as standalone programs, or in conjunction with a text such as Harvey Gould and Jan Tobochnik, Statistical and Thermal Physics: With Computer Applications.  The original STP Java programs were developed using the Open Source Physics Java code library. They are available as a ready-to-run package in the OSP Collection as item a href="https://www.compadre.org/osp/items/detail.cfm?ID=7308"> 7308.

The six STP JavaScript programs presented here were converted from Java to JavaScript by Wolfgang Christian and Robert Hanson (St. Olaf College) using the SwingJS system developed at St. Olaf College.
