Determining the Acceleration Due to Gravity

published by the College Ready Math-Science Partnership

This is a teacher training activity to help instructors understand differences between structured and guided inquiry. It uses two examples of a lab to investigate free-fall acceleration. The structured inquiry lab includes detailed procedures and analysis while the guided inquiry lab helps students design, set up, and run the lab without giving a specific set of instructions. The teacher training materials include context and questions to help instructors explore the differences between the approaches and consider how they might use a more guided approach.

This is part of a collection of similar resources developed by the College-Ready Math-Science Partnership at the University of Arkansas. This activity was originally developed by PASCO and modified by the College Ready MSP.
