Motor Control with Phidgets

written by Anne Cox and Francisco Esquembre

The EJS Motor Control with Phidgets controls a stepper motor using a Phidget 1066 Motor Controller and stepper motor. The Phdiget driver must be installed. The instructions are for an introductory physics lab on using computer controls for a solar collector.  Once Ejs is installed, right-clicking within the plot and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item allows for editing of the model and, in particular, editing the serial number of the Hardware (as described in the lab instructions).

The EJS Motor Control with Phidgets model was created using the Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) modeling tool.  It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive.  Double clicking the ejs_PhidgetMotorControl.jar file will run the program if Java is installed.  Ejs is a part of the Open Source Physics Project and is designed to make it easier to access, modify, and generate computer models.
