Content Collaborators
ComPADRE is working with multiple groups interested in facilitating physics educators.
- MERLOT
MERLOT is an international collaboration maintaining a multi-disciplinary
collection of multimedia learning resources, with a focus on peer review and the recognition and advancement of the scholarship of teaching. MERLOT
and ComPADRE are working on federation of our collections and improving the peer review process.
- National Science Digital Library
The NSDL is the NSF-funded collaboration of resource collections promoting
excellence in science education. The NSDL includes collection projects, contributing partners, research and service development, and the 13 Pathway Projects including ComPADRE.
- PADs
PADs are interactive Java applets that provide a range of ways to represent data and evaluate the correctness of those representations.
- Physlets/BQ Learning
Physlets are scriptable java applets that have been adopted by instructors all over the world for the development of interactive physics learning objects.
The BQ Learning database is hosting and distributing these learning resources
for use around the world. BQ Learning is another federation partner of ComPADRE.
- SERC Pedagogic Service
The Pedagogic Service provides tools to connect developed, research proven teaching methods with examples of how the methods are being used in classes and the learning content in digital libraries and repositories.
Precise explanations of the pedogic methods developed and hosted by SERC, the "Why", and user-submitted and editor reviewed descriptions of usage, the "How", can be used to develop context for the learning objects, the "What".
ComPADRE is working with SERC to provide examples for some of the pedagogic methods most commonly used in physics and astronomy classes.
The examples will be linked to the content objects in the ComPADRE catalog to help users of those resources.
In addition, the pedagogy descriptions will be linked in ComPADRE to help users understand these effective approaches to learning.
Having discipline-specific examples will make these descriptions more useful for the ComPADRE audience.
- Smithsonian/NASA Astrophysics Data Service
The ADS provides in-depth indexing of journal articles and similar resources.
An ADS web service provides ComPADRE with citation and reference information for articles in ComPADRE.
ComPADRE also hosts an interface to access ADS education resources.
Program Collaborations
ComPADRE collaborates with groups to bring unique programs to physics educators.

Adopt-a-Physicist
Adopt-a-Physicist is a joint project of the AIP/SPS, APS, and AAPT, hosted by ComPADRE.
Middle- and High-school teachers can search profiles of practicing physicists and adopt them for
their class. Classes communicate with the scientists for three weeks to discover more about
how real science is done and what physicists are really like.
Federated Search
ComPADRE partners with multiple groups to bring federated content to our users. We have working agreements with the following entities on use of federated search to facilitate physics educators.
