This set of lecture slides provides images, pictures, information, and graphs that guide students through the variables involved in the Drake Equation. Stellar formation, planetary information, ecospheres, the formation of life, the possibility of intelligent life, and the technology that is needed to communicate with other civilizations are are discussed in these slides. The Drake Equation provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the possibilities of communicating with intelligent life in the universe.
