HENAAC Scholars Program

Description: The HENAAC Scholars Program addresses the immense need that the United States has to produce more domestic engineers and scientists. The goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country's place as the finest technological leader in the world.

The HENAAC Scholars Program was officially created in the year 2000 with the first scholarships being sponsored by the Ford Motor Company and presented at the HENAAC 2001 Conference.

In its twelve year history, the HENAAC Scholars Program has shown tremendous growth and has distributed over $1,700,000 in educational grants to over 874 outstanding and deserving recipients.

HENAAC Student Leadership Awards:
One graduate and one undergraduate student will be selected to receive the top two HENAAC Student Leadership Awards and scholarships. Graduate, Undergraduate and High School Seniors will be evaluated separately.

Basic Scholarship Requirements:

Applicants must demonstrate leadership through academic achievements and campus/community activities

Applicants must be Science, Technology, Engineering or Math related majors

Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher

Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for the fall 2013 fall semester

Applicants must be of Hispanic origin and/or must significantly participate in and promote organizations and activities in the Hispanic community

Each Scholarship Recipient Will Receive:

A scholarship ranging in amounts from $500 to $10,000

Transportation support to the 2013 HENAAC Conference in New Orleans (attendance is mandatory for scholarship recipients).

Recipients will be awarded at the 25th Anniversary HENAAC

Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 2-5, 2013

Recipients MUST attend the HENAAC Conference to receive the scholarship

Length of Award: One Time Award
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Other Comments: NOTE: RE: Citizenship - The majority of scholarships offered under the HENAAC Scholars Program require United States citizenship. However, a few scholarship sponsors require United States residency or do not have a citizenship requirement. If you are not a United States citizen, we do encourage you to apply.

Note:  RE: Length of Award - Website does not specify but it is presumed it is a one time award unless you reapply since the webiste states:   Previous HENAAC scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply provided they are enrolled in a full-time academic program majoring in a STEM related field in the fall of 2013.

Note:  RE:  Number of Awards Given - is estimated based on the number given in 2012.

All science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) majors qualify for the HENAAC Student Leadership Award scholarships. The majority of the corporate, government and individually sponsored scholarships require specific majors. Please review each individual scholarship requirement as listed on our website.

You must be enrolled in a full-time academic program in the fall of 2013 to receive a scholarship. Great Minds in STEM does require proof of fall 2013 enrollment prior to receiving your scholarship check.

If you are a high school senior and will be enrolled as a STEM student full-time at a college/university in the fall of 2013, you are eligible and we do encourage you to apply.

Great Minds in STEM will determine what scholarships you are allowed to compete for. Your major, university location, grade level, grade point average and citizenship status will be the determining factors.
