SPE Michigan Section Scholarship

|Description:||The Michigan Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) would like to announce that it will be awarding a scholarship of $1,000 to a Michigan college student or an incoming college student who is interested in the petroleum and natural gas industry. Additionally, this year the Michigan Section of SPE is happy to announce that the potential exists to award a second scholarship amounting to $500 to an additional student. Students only need to fill out one form to apply.
These scholarships apply to any students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in the desired fields of interest for the 2012-2013 academic year and who are currently U.S. citizens and residents of Michigan or attending a 4-year institution in Michigan. Please note Physics is stated as one of the desired fields of interest.
The scholarship is a commitment for one year only; there is no implied or explicit agreement that the scholarship is awarded to the same student throughout their college career. However, a winner of the annual scholarship award may apply in subsequent years pursuant to Article VI of the scholarship directions located on the SPE website.

Eligible applicants include current college students committed to a Bachelor of Science degree program who will be attending for two (2) full semesters following receipt of the scholarship or high school seniors admitted to a 4-year institution offering a Bachelor of Science degree in fields listed below:
Eligible B.S. Degree Programs, in order of preference:
-Petroleum, Natural Gas, Chemical, or Geological Engineering
-Geology or Geophysics
-Mechanical, Electrical, or Metallurgical Engineering
-Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics
-Other Natural Science or Engineering Fields
Applicant must be Michigan resident at the time of application to the scholarship or currently attending or have been accepted to attend a Michigan academic institution.
Applicants must complete, print, sign, and mail via the postal service the appropriate (High School or College) Michigan Section SPE Scholarship application to the Scholarship Chairperson, Luke Dewig.
College students: Send or have your school send official college transcripts (all schools attended) to the Scholarship Chairperson, Luke Dewig.
High school students: Send or have your school send official high school transcripts (all schools attended) and official ACT or SAT test score transcripts and official college acceptance letters to the Scholarship Chairperson, Luke Dewig.
Send application materials to the Scholarship Chairperson. Luke Dewig, postmarked no later than July 1, materials received with postmarks dated later than July 1 cannot be accepted.
