| Description: | The program will support about eight undergraduate mathematics majors to work closely with faculty mentors for a period of eight weeks in the summer of 2013. The program features an immersive, individualized, intense introduction to research in mathematics and the mathematical profession. This involves: reading background material and research papers, expositions and presentations, both formal and informal;writing; computation; simulation; developing a perspective on the interconnectedness of mathematics as a discipline; and community-building among students and faculty. |
