Description: Summer Undergraduate Astronomy Research Internship. MMO has six NSF-funded research assistant positions. Accepted students conduct independent research supervised by the senior MMO staff. The current research areas include forming stars and planetary systems, unusual variable stars, astrophysical masers and lasers, and the physics of comets. The research emphasizes state-of-the-art data reduction techniques and thoughtful physical interpretation. The major results of the student projects are presented at local, national and international professional conferences and   published in peer-reviewed journals.
Stipend: $1,400/mo.
