Washington University in Saint Louis
Driving directions:
Arriving from the east: Take Hwy 40 west to Exit 34B (Skinker Blvd/Clayton Road). At the end of the off ramp, turn right (north) onto Skinker Blvd. Drive about a mile and turn left (west) at the stoplight onto Forsyth Blvd. Turn right at Hoyt Drive, the first road on your right. Hoyt Drive brings you into the northeast corner of campus near the Physics department.
Arriving from the west: Please note that Hwy 40 is closed from I-270 to I-170 for construction, so driving to campus from the west is more challenging than usual.
From the northwest: Take I-70 east to I-170 south (Exit 238B). Head south on I-170 for ~6.5 miles. Take the Forest Park Parkway exit (Exit 1E). Drive east on Forest Park Parkway for ~2.8 miles. Turn right (south) at the stoplight at Hoyt Drive. Hoyt Drive brings you into the northeast corner of campus near the Physics department.
From the southwest: Take I-44 east to Exit 282 (Laclede Station Road toward Murdoch Ave). Turn left onto Laclede Station Road at the end of the ramp. Drive north on Laclede Station Road for ~0.3 miles, and then veer right at the stoplight onto Big Bend Blvd. Drive ~3.7 miles north on Big Bend Blvd to Forsyth Blvd. Turn right (east) onto Forsyth Blvd, and drive ~0.6 mile to Hoyt Drive. Turn left (north) onto Hoyt Drive. Hoyt Drive brings you into the northeast corner of campus near the Physics department.
Parking: Please download a copy of the campus parking map at the URL below if you will be driving to campus. As a point of reference, the physics department is located in Crow and Compton Halls (building numbers 20 and 19 on the Campus Parking Map, respectively).
Daily parking permits will be available ($5/day) at the meeting registration desk. However, you can park for free in Forest Park, which neighbors the university to the east. The park entrance closest to the university is at the intersection of Skinker Blvd and Forsyth Blvd.
If you wish to park on campus, choose a parking lot shaded in yellow on the Campus Parking Map. Unfortunately, the parking lot closest to the physics department (Lot #4) will be blocked off for a campus carnival the weekend of the SPS Zone meeting. Your best bets are probably Lots #2W, 2E, 10, and 25). None of these lots are more than a 5 minute walk from the physics department.
Visitor parking on campus (lavender lots on the Campus Parking Map) is metered, and you don't get a lot of time for your money, but it's not a bad option if you just want to park for a short while.
