GR Schwarzschild Light Wavefront Program

educational validator: Bethany Zach
The GR Schwarzschild Light Wavefront program simulates the path of light emitted in all directions near a black hole using the Schwarzschild metric. The default setting is an explosion with an r-coordinate value of 6.0. The user can also see the effective potential of any of the light trajectories.
GR Schwarzschild Light Wavefront Parameter is part of a suite of Open Source Physics programs that model aspects of General Relativity. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the gr_schwarzschild_light_wavefront.jar file will run the program if Java is installed. Other programs provide additional visualizations. They can be found by searching ComPADRE for Open Source Physics, OSP, or General Relativity. Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java.
