This item is an interactive student guide to an introductory course in Statics, the special case of motion when the sum of all external forces acting on the body must be zero. Static equilibrium occurs when an object or system is not accelerating: it is either at rest or its center of mass is moving at constant velocity. Sections include vectors, forces, moment of inertia, rigid bodies, loads, friction, work, and energy. Each section contains an interactive case study which presents users with a real-life problem to solve. Video clips and interactive simulations accompany each problem, as well as background information and related theory. The eBook is cost-free and may be used without registration.
This item is part of larger collection of instructional materials that include course management systems for instructors, quizzes and tests with solutions, and lectures. These materials require registration for access. SEE RELATED MATERIALS on this page for a link to the complete collection. Please note that this resource requires Flash, or Shockwave.
