Observing Students' Use of Computer-based Tools During Collision Experiments
written by Elizabeth George, Maan Jiang Broadstock, and Jesús Vázquez-Abad
This paper was presented at the 2001 Physics Education Research Conference.  The authors investigated the effects of instructional approaches in computer and video based physics labs.  Results indicate that students are able to use this information in the lab, and that they respond to the added information by spending more time in lab talking about concepts. The authors also discuss some of the difficulties students had in learning the concepts of conservation of momentum and energy.

Topic: Impulse and Momentum
Unit Title: Teaching about Impulse and Momentum

In this 2001 paper presented at the Physics Education Research Conference, authors describe the effects of two teaching approaches in a classroom lab on momentum:  microcomputer-based labs (MBR) and video-based labs (VBR).  Results indicate that students made good use of the information in the lab, and that they spent more time talking about concepts involving conservation of momentum and energy.
