This lab manual describes experiments motivated by letters of Ben Franklin describing studies of static electricity. It includes explorations of the effect of dielectrics in capacitors and the creation of electrostatic motors. Descriptions of experiments using simple and cheap materials are provided a long with historical descriptions and images.
