Problem 5.1: Photoelectric effect: vary the incident light

In this animation, a slider controls the frequency or wavelength of light incident on a material. A graph shows the kinetic energy of ejected electrons as a function of the slider control (kinetic energy is given in eV). Restart.

  1. Animation A.  The slider controls the frequency of the incident light (given in 1015 Hz). What is the work function of the material in eV?  What is the velocity of the ejected electrons if the incident light has a frequency of 2.5 × 1015 Hz?
  2. Animation B.  The slider controls the wavelength of the incident light (given in nanometers, nm). What is the work function of the material in eV?
