Detail Page

written by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
This website provides projects and activities for advanced astronomy students.  Students may learn about the 50 million galaxies found so far by The Sloan Digital Sky Survey and how scientists classify these galaxies by their characteristics. The interaction between galaxies is also studied by looking at galaxy clusters and Galaxy Cannibalism. Activities are provided to increase students' knowledge about galaxies by asking them to determine how galaxies evolve given galaxy redshifts.
