American Journal of Physics
written by Roger Nanes and John W. Jewett
This article describes a National Science Foundation funded program aimed at assisting high school physics teachers in Southern California to incorporate modern physics concepts into the high school curriculum. Summer and academic year activities in the program are described. Extensive assessment and evaluation of the project indicated success both in promoting modern physics instruction in the high schools as well as an increase in teachers' professional attitudes toward themselves and their careers. Statistical analysis of the results of these assessments is briefly discussed.
