This page contains seven in-depth explorations of magnetism, magnetic fields on Earth and the sun, solar wind, auroras, and solar flares. Three lessons are for middle school; four are intended for high school. The lessons were developed as a collaboration between NASA's Education and Public Outreach program and the Space Sciences Laboratory at the University of Berkeley. Images and videos from relevant NASA missions are integrated into all lessons. Each module also provides background information, lab activities, math-based lessons on magnetic fields, student worksheets, Power Point presentations, detailed rubrics, and final projects that engage students in presenting the findings of their own investigations.
