Eleven collision-based conservation of momentum and energy tutorials with curricular materials, Tracker visualizations and Tracker data files produced by the National Space Academy, UK Space Agency, and the European Space Agency. These videos show UK astronaut Tim Peake doing experiments in space demonstrating elastic and inelastic collisions between objects of different masses filmed from multiple angles. Combined with the Earth based demonstrations of newton's cradle filmed in high speed video, bouncing balls, and an Earth analogue of Tim's experiments, in depth analysis of conservation of momentum and kinetic energy can take place.
The zip files on this site contain the videos and the Tracker experiment (*.trk) file. To open the Tracker experiment file, you must first download and install Tracker from http://physlets.org/tracker/.
