This Quantitative Literacy Case Study helps students understand percentages and merchandise discounts used by stores. Any sales flier can be used as the information source for this activity. In their analysis, students calculate percentage discounts, costs of sales items, and explore the accuracy of marketing schemes.
This is part of a collection of Quantitative Literacy Case Studies developed by participants in the University of Arkansas College Ready Math-Science Partnership. The CRMSP provides help for teachers developing their own timely and topical cases.
