Integrate-and-Fire Neuron Model

The Integrate-and-Fire model may be considered the oldest computational model of a neuron, and is also one of the simplest. The Integrate-and-Fire model (IF) was developed by Louis Lapicque in 1907 and takes into account only the ohmic leakage of the neuron, and as such is a single linear differential equation. We will take advantage of this simplicity in proving analytically facts about the period of firing.
The Integrate-and-Fire model was developed using the Easy Java Simulations (EJS) modeling tool. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the jar file will run the program if Java is installed. You can modify this simulation if you have EJS installed by right-clicking within the map and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item. Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.6 of Java (JRE).
