The Earth Phases JS Model illustrates the changing regions of darkness and light on the Earth over the course of a single day, or over the course of an entire year. The image shows the a NASA photograph of Earth from space. Areas of the Earth for which it is daytime are shown in full color, while areas for which it is nighttime are shown in a deep shadow. Controls allow the user to adjust the time of day and the day of the year. Optional controls display a marker with an adjustable latitude. The program can use either the mean sun or the true sun to determine regions of night and day.
