Fermi-Dirac Distribution
Faculty Commons material developed by Marie Lopez del Puerto - Published July 15, 2018
In this project, students find the Fermi-Dirac distribution by looking at the probability of occupation of individual states in an isolated system of identical fermions inside a container where the allowed energy levels are nondegenerate and evenly spaced. In the thermodynamic limit, the probability of a level being occupied should be given by the Fermi-Dirac distribution. This project is adapted from D. Schroeder, "An Introduction to Thermal Physics," problem 7.16.
