| Presentation Title: | Online Labs: Using Videos, Spreadsheets, and Online Quizzes, Oh My! |
|---|---|
| Abstract: | When physics labs migrated to online format, our faculty chose to continue using the existing in-house lab manual. For each experiment, we recorded short videos and collected data. Students received videos, data, and a pre-built spreadsheet for data analysis. We converted existing lab questions to multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank form in an online "quiz"; the student submitted their spreadsheet as a file response question. We discuss some interesting observations and outcomes from this experience. One such example is a need to include more spreadsheet computation for students in both the life sciences and the physical sciences. We conclude with our plans to integrate spreadsheets and online quizzes once labs return to in-class. |
