Physlet Periodic Motion Illustrations Package

written by Andreu Glasmann, Wolfgang Christian, and Mario Belloni

The Physlet Periodic Motion Illustration Package contains JavaScript adaptations of Physlet Illustrations from Physlet Physics Chapter 16.  This multimodel simulation package  demonstrates a type of periodic or oscillatory motion called wave motion.  Students need to interact with the Physlet, but the answers to the wave questions posed in the Illustration are given or are easily determined from interacting with it. Some Illustrations provide examples of physics applications while others are designed to introduce a particular wave function concept. Typical uses of Illustrations would include reading assignments prior to class and classroom demonstrations.

The EJS Periodic Motion Illustrations Package was developed using the Easy Java/JavaScript Simulations (EJS) version 5.  Although EjsS is a Java program, it can create stand alone JavaScript programs that run in almost any PC or tablet.  EJS can also create ePub documents containing multiple simulations.

Physlet® Physics Periodic Motion Illustrations are available in an online AAPT/ComPADRE book.

Periodic Motion Illustrations Source Code

This source code zip archive contains an XML representation of the JavaScript Periodic Motions Package.   Unzip this archive in your Ejs workspace to compile and run this model using EjsS 5.  Although EjsS is a Java program, EjsS 5 creates stand alone JavaScript simulations from this source code.
