EJS icons too small on high resolution screens

Is there a solution to this problem?

With very high resolution screens (like on the Microsoft Surface Pro 4) 267 PPI, the size of the icons in the UI are too small to be used.
Simple adjustments to the display parameters (resolution or magnification settings) do not solve this problem.
In searching for a general solution, it appears that other java frameworks like Eclipse and Netbeans have had the same issue in the past.
