I have unsuccessfully tried:

- flattening an ellipsoid hoping to get just an 'outline' with no fill
- using Disk3D (but that just breaks the scene and I only get a white canvas - either not fully implemented yet or I do not understand the important parameters)

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
