I have updated my macbook air to yosemite OSX 10.10 and I have a training session to make on Tracker next week... but I cannot open videos anymore :( HELP !!
I have downloaded the last version of java from Apple and the last version from Oracle. Tracker seams to work with the Java from Apple anyway (version 6 from 2014.1). I have installed the last tracker with Xuggle 4.86.
Everytime I start Tracker I get this message saying they recommend to reinstall Tracker with the Xuggle video engine (as Quicktime for Java is not available for MacOS anymore apparently). But I HAVE !
I checked environnement and the xuggle.xuggler.jar is in the system/library/java/extensions and in several other places. The Path is ok... I don't understand what may be missing.

It seems that the upgrade to OSX Yosemite broke the connection between Tracker and Xuggle so that even when Xuggle is correctly installed it does not function.
I am actively working on a fix and will release it ASAP--hopefully within a week. In the meantime, thanks for your patience :-)

Thanks for staying on top of this, Doug. I'm enjoying the new features of Yosemite. But the loss of Tracker probably means that I have to go do yard work instead of messing around with a video analysis this weekend.

I'm afraid I can't help, but I want to report the same problem here.
The built-in diagnostics reports: The Xuggle video engine is installed but not working. The XUGGLE_HOME environment is not defined. You may need to restart your computer or reinstall Xuggle.
I have reinstalled (many times) both Tracker and Xuggle. I have tried also selecting QuickTime but none of these procedures work.

Well, I solved the problem with quicktime. I took two steps: 1. Download jdk-8u25-macosx-x64 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html 2. From other MacBook without Yosemite copy the file QTjava.zip and libQTJNative.jnilib, then paste it to System/Library/Java/Extensions

This is great news, Fabian--I was convinced QuickTime was dead on Yosemite. Nice work! Doug

I have followed these steps and have been unable to get it to work. I pasted the files from a Mavericks machine to a Yosemite machine and made sure to have Java 8 installed from the link. Anything else to try? Thanks

Ok I did it combining what you said on your comments. What I did was
1. Uninstall the Oracle Java update purposed by Fabian on this post and reinstall Java (Apple provided). The guide to do this is at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559?viewlocale=en_US
2. Put the files QTjava.zip and libQTJNative.jnilib from a non-Yosemite Mac at the location purposed by Fabian (both of them, probably this is redundant but I didn't try delete some of them)
3. Restart
4. Open Tracker and change Xuggle for QuickTime (for Edit>Preferences>Video>Video Engine)

Well I seem to be having a different problem because I can not find the files that y'all listed above! I am able to work with my tracker right now by converting the .mov files into .gif files but I would really like to be able to just use my .mov files. Any further help with this problem would be great because I have checked multiple computers without Yosemite and the "QTJava.zip" and "libQTJNative.jnilib" files do not exist. I'm not sure if I'm not looking in the right place or what but I'm at a loss. Any further help with this problem would be great!

The "QTJava.zip" and "libQTJNative.jnilib" files that are needed to make QuickTime work on Yosemite are included in the new Tracker 4.87 installer downloadable from http://www.cabrillo.edu/~dbrown/tracker/installers/Tracker-4.86-osx-installer.zip. No need to look for them on older OSX machines :-)
