This item is an interactive Java tutorial that simulates scanning of a sample under the microscope at fixed magnification.  Students can control sliders to translate across the sample, control intensity and focus, and zoom in or out.

This item is part of a larger collection of virtual microscopy simulations developed for teachers and learners of introductory optics.  See Related items on this page for a link to the full index.

Please note that this resource requires Java.
