This is an interactive homework problem for introductory physics students relating to the buoyant force. It involves a system of a floating bobber, fishing line, a fishhook, and bait, with mass and volume given for each. The line has been cast into a lake of known water density. The student is required to determine the minimum downward force a fish must exert to pull the bobber completely under the water. A user-activated "help" sequence is provided for each step of the problem-solving, from conceptual analysis through quantitative calculation. Immediate feedback is received for both correct and incorrect responses.
